In 89th General Assembly of International Union of Railways (UIC) held in St. Petersburg, Russia, on 01 December 2016, Mr. İsa Apaydın, Chairman of the Board and Director General of TCDD, was elected for the position of Vice-Chairman of UIC.
ELECTED WITH UNANIMITY
Mr. Apaydın was elected with unanimity as Vice-Chairman in UIC established to develop the cooperation between the railway corporations worldwide and to carry out all kind of activities related to the development of the railway transport.
With the election of Mr İsa Apaydın, the first executive from Turkey is selected in UIC established in 1922 in Paris, France.
195 MEMBERS FROM 5 CONTINENTS
With its characteristic being the biggest organization worldwide in railway field, UIC has 195 members from 5 continents.
Integrated railway corporations, infrastructure managers, railway or combined transport operators, rolling stock and traction leasing companies and service providers can be a member of the Union.
APAYDIN, CHAIRMAN OF UIC REGIONAL ASSEMBLY OF MIDDLE EAST
There are 5 Regional Assemblies as Africa, America (North America and Latin America), Asia, Europe and Middle East.
TCDD has been a member in Regional Assembly of Middle East (RAME) since 2007 and in Regional Assembly of Europe (RAE) since 2008.
Mr Apaydın, elected as Vice-Chairman of UIC, was also elected as the Chairman of RAME in the Meeting held in 3rd June 2016 in İstanbul.
